This work is about memories and their utopian places. My father tells of his childhood as a German in Romania during the Second World War. It is a narrative about the longing for a utopian place called “home” and a utopian time called “childhood”.
The audio installation is a composition of a fragmented interview, field recordings, recitations of various poems (including “Paradies Lost” by John Milton, read by Tom O’Bedlam) and alienated music sequences. The sound is accompanied by synchronized image and video sequences.
